Establishment
The Association’s origins lie in an initiative, launched with the encouragement and support of the Council of Higher Education (CoHE/YÖK), to enhance the quality of Vocational Schools of Higher Education and their graduates, thereby contributing to the qualified workforce envisaged in Türkiye’s strategic development plans. Driven by this vision and with the support of our universities, the Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Vocational Education (MEDEK) was founded in 2021. In 2023, the Association was authorised by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC/YÖKAK) to accredit 83 vocational school programmes, assessing their compliance with established standards, quality criteria and performance indicators.

Mission
MEDEK’s mission is to contribute to raising the quality of education and training by providing information, external evaluation and accreditation services for associate degree programmes.

Vision
MEDEK’s vision is to become a leading quality assurance body that defines the educational, research and administrative processes of associate degree programmes, as well as the quality of the intermediate-level workforce they produce, against national and international standards, shares the outcomes with the relevant institutions and organisations, and grants quality accreditation accordingly.

Purpose and Profile of MEDEK
To lead the way in educating professionals who keep pace with developments in their field, respond to changing workforce needs, possess advanced vocational skills and competencies, are innovative and socially responsible, take initiative, and have the qualifications sought by their respective sectors.
