Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berkan KARAGÖZ

Head of the Department of Public Finance

Berkan Karagöz was born on May 25, 1983, in Balıkesir, Turkey. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Balıkesir. In 2005, he graduated with first place from the Department of Public Finance at Marmara University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (FEAS). He earned his master’s degree from Marmara University in 2008 and obtained his PhD in 2015 from the Department of Public Finance at Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences (SBF), with his dissertation titled "Fiscal Decentralization and the Problem of Horizontal Inequality: The Case of Turkey." In September 2022, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in the field of Public Finance. Karagöz has published numerous articles and books on public economics, local government finance, and local government economics. He is currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Department of Public Finance, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Yozgat Bozok University. His primary areas of interest include public economics and local government economics.
