Establishment

The Department of Finance at Bozok University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, commenced its undergraduate education in the 2018-2019 academic year with a quota of 60 students. The department currently employs 2 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors (Doctor Faculty Members), and 1 Research Assistant.

Program Profile

The program aims to equip students with the necessary public finance, taxation, and general economics knowledge and skills. The Department of Finance admitted its first students in 2018. Students who complete 240 ECTS credits and achieve a minimum GPA of 2.00 receive a bachelor’s degree.

Each course includes one midterm and one final exam. The university employs a grading system where a minimum grade of CC is required to pass. The final grade is 40% of the midterm and 60% of the final exam scores. Students who fail can take a make-up exam after the final exam.

The Finance Department consists of five subfields:

Departmental Facilities

The department employs 3 Assistant Professors (Doctor Faculty Members) and 1 Research Assistant. The language of instruction is 100% Turkish.

Each faculty member has a personal laptop and printer, and all offices have internet access. The department offers fully equipped computer laboratories, language labs, and lecture halls with projection systems, providing students with a competitive learning environment.

Students can participate in various finance-related student clubs. Additionally, through symposiums, conferences, and panel discussions, students can apply theoretical knowledge to real-world financial challenges.

Moreover, students have the chance to join university teams and engage in sports activities such as fitness, football, basketball, and volleyball.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in public expenditures and public debt management, and be able to analyze and interpret related issues.
  2. Possess quantitative and statistical research skills, anticipate the outcomes of financial decisions, and develop strategic approaches.
  3. Apply theoretical and legal knowledge of taxation, including tax assessment, tax penalties, tax disputes, and tax return preparation.
  4. Utilize quantitative and qualitative economic methods to analyze contemporary economic and financial problems.
  5. Understand the economic and financial transformations of societies and their international relations.
  6. Acquire comprehensive finance, law, economics, business, and accounting knowledge, which are essential for public and private sector careers.
  7. Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in economic and financial analysis, forming well-grounded opinions on financial matters.
  8. Gain expertise in public finance, fiscal theory, public sector financial management, budget theory, and fiscal auditing, and conduct analytical evaluations in these areas.

  10. Analyze public expenditures and public debt management with a strong theoretical background.
  11. Apply quantitative and statistical research methods to anticipate economic and financial trends.

  13. Attain at least a B1 level proficiency in a foreign language, per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and utilize these written and verbal communication skills.
  14. Demonstrate competence in information systems used in finance and economics, along with relevant software applications.
