Examinations, Assessment and Evaluation
Each student is required to register for courses at the beginning of the semester and attend at least 70% of the classes in order to be eligible to take the final examination. Students are required to take at least one midterm examination and one final examination for each course. The midterm examination contributes 40% and the final examination contributes 60% to the overall course grade. All examinations are assessed on a scale of 100 points. Students must obtain at least 50 points from the final examination.
Students who receive one of the letter grades AA, BA, BB, CB, or CC are considered to have successfully completed the course. DC and DD are conditional passing grades. In order for a student who receives a DC or DD grade to be considered successful in the course, the student must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.00.
Course Grade
Scores obtained from examinations are assessed on a scale of 100 points and used to determine the student's course grade. A student's performance in a course is determined by evaluating both the academic work completed during the semester and the final examination. Semester activities may include attendance in courses and practical sessions, practical work, assignments, projects, and similar activities. In determining the semester grade, these activities may be assessed together with the midterm examination at specified proportions during the final week of the semester, as indicated in the academic calendar.

Assessment Methods
The methods used to assess the achievement of the intended program learning outcomes throughout the Journalism Program are as follows:

Examinations
Students’ achievement of the intended learning outcomes of each course included in the curriculum of the Department of Journalism is assessed through activities conducted during the semester and final examinations held at the end of each semester.
The assessment of semester activities includes at least one midterm examination and/or an assignment as compulsory assessment methods for undergraduate courses, in accordance with the relevant regulations.
Programs are encouraged to employ additional assessment methods for semester activities where necessary to measure the achievement of program- and course-level outcomes and to fulfil their educational aims and objectives. The type and number of assessment methods used for each course, together with their contribution to the final course grade, are specified under the “Assessment and Evaluation” section of the relevant course descriptions. These arrangements are announced at the beginning of each semester, and course descriptions are published on the University website.
Midterm and final examinations are held on the dates, at the locations, and at the times determined and announced by the University. Final course grades are determined by the instructors based on students’ midterm examinations, assignments, quizzes, final examinations, and other assessment results, where applicable, while also taking into account whether the attendance requirements have been fulfilled.
In determining the final course grade, semester activities may contribute a maximum of 40%, while the final examination contributes between 40% and 60% for all courses in undergraduate programs, in accordance with the relevant regulations.
