Graduates of the Department of Journalism may pursue careers at Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), private radio and television broadcasters, newspapers, and national and international news agencies. The program prepares graduates for a variety of professional roles, including reporter, news presenter, photojournalist, editor, social media consultant, and digital media professional. The journalism profession requires creativity, attention to detail, organisational skills, and discipline.

Graduates may also continue their education at the postgraduate level and pursue academic careers in higher education institutions. Students who successfully complete the program may apply to Master’s programs in Journalism or related fields and, subject to specific admission requirements, to doctoral programs. Graduates may apply to relevant Master’s and doctoral programs offered by institutes of social sciences.

In accordance with national regulations governing postgraduate education, admission to Master’s programs is based on criteria that may include candidates’ undergraduate academic achievement and their scores in the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES), administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Depending on the requirements of the program, applicants may also be required to demonstrate an adequate level of English proficiency through a recognised language examination.

The weighting of ALES scores and other admission criteria in the overall evaluation of applicants is determined in accordance with national regulations and the regulations adopted by the senate of each university. Depending on institutional and program-specific requirements, applicants may also be required to demonstrate a specified level of foreign language proficiency.
