The School of Foreign Languages was established by a Council of Ministers’ decision dated 25 January 2016, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 8 April 2016 and numbered 29678. Following the establishment of the School, the Department of Foreign Languages, which had been affiliated with the Rectorate, was closed, and the positions of its 10 academic staff members were transferred to the School. Today, the School has a total of 10 permanent teaching staff members. It is located in Block C of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture building on the Bilal Şahin West Campus.

The School offers the Compulsory English Preparatory Program for students enrolled in the Department of English Language and Literature within the Department of Western Languages and Literatures at the Faculty of Science and Letters, as well as for students enrolled in the Department of English Language Teaching within the Department of Foreign Language Education at the Faculty of Education. In addition, the School provides an Optional English Preparatory Program for students from various academic units of the University. It also offers Vocational English courses in other academic units and Basic English courses under the 5i curriculum.

At the School of Foreign Languages, we consider one of the most important components of our mission to be preparing our students, entrusted to us at the beginning of their university education, to become critical thinkers who are open to change and continuous development, aware of their responsibilities, committed to national, moral, and universal ethical values, and equipped with strong language skills.

Our goal is to provide students with a supportive and dynamic learning environment in which they can develop their language proficiency while acquiring the skills, values, and competencies needed for academic, professional, and personal success.
