The Department of Plant Protection, established within the Yozgat Faculty of Agriculture on 3 July 1992, when the faculty was affiliated with Erciyes University, became part of the Faculty of Agriculture of Bozok University following the establishment of Bozok University on 1 March 2006. The department appointed its first academic staff member, a Research Assistant, on 1 December 2009. After completing its academic organization on 25 October 2011, the department launched its undergraduate education program in the 2012–2013 academic year.

The primary mission of the Department of Plant Protection is to develop and promote environmentally friendly and human health-conscious plant protection methods that help meet the food demands of a rapidly growing population while ensuring the highest possible productivity from cultivable agricultural land. In this context, the department conducts education and research on the identification, diagnosis, biology, and damage mechanisms of insect pests, plant diseases, and weeds that reduce crop yield and quality. Based on this knowledge, sustainable and environmentally sound pest management strategies that preserve the natural ecological balance are developed. Another fundamental objective of the department is to provide students with the knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required to solve plant protection problems effectively.

The Department of Plant Protection consists of two divisions: Entomology and Phytopathology. The Department of Plant Protection comprises two divisions: Entomology and Phytopathology. Currently, our department is staffed by one Professor, four Associate Professors, and four Assistant Professors.

Graduates of the Department of Plant Protection have a wide range of career opportunities. They may work as specialists in institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, agricultural research organizations, pesticide and seed companies, agricultural consultancy firms, pest control companies, and agricultural pesticide dealerships
