Department of Educational Sciences

The Department of Educational Sciences was established to train qualified teachers for primary and secondary education institutions and to educate specialists in the various fields of education. In line with this purpose, the Department delivers the professional teaching knowledge courses of the undergraduate teacher education programmes offered by the Faculty of Education. The Department also runs in-service training programmes that contribute to the professional development of teachers and supports individual development through courses, seminars, and other lifelong-learning activities that benefit the wider community. In addition, the graduate programmes affiliated with its divisions are carried out within the Department, educating specialists who produce scientific solutions to the fundamental problems of education.

The Department comprises four divisions:

• Division of Guidance and Psychological Counselling
• Division of Curriculum and Instruction
• Division of Educational Administration
• Division of Measurement and Evaluation in Education

Undergraduate education is offered only in the Division of Guidance and Psychological Counselling, which trains school counsellors. The other three divisions offer graduate programmes at master’s and doctoral level.
