The Department of Turkish Language and Literature was established in the 1996–1997 academic year under the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Erciyes University in Yozgat. It currently continues its academic programs under the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Yozgat Bozok University.
The Department began admitting students in the 1996–1997 academic year and launched its evening education program in the 2008–2009 academic year. The Department consists of five divisions: Modern Turkish Literature, Turkish Folk Literature, Classical Turkish Literature, Modern Turkish Language, and Old Turkish Language.
The Department currently has 12 academic staff members, including 3 Professors, 2 Associate Professor, 5 Assistant Professors, and 2 Research Assistants.
