About Us

Yozgat Faculty of Arts and Sciences was established in Yozgat province under the Erciyes University Presidency with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 24.08.1994 and numbered 94/6138 published in the Official Gazette dated 3 November 1994 and numbered 22100. Our Mathematics Department was opened with the decision of the Board of Directors of the Council of Higher Education dated 30.01.1996. Erciyes University Yozgat Faculty of Arts and Sciences continues its education by being connected to the Yozgat Bozok University Presidency, which was established with the Law dated 01 March 2006 and numbered 5467.

Our academic staff of 12 people in total, including 3 professors, 4 associate professors, 4 assistant professors, 1 research assistant and 1 teaching assistant, is getting stronger every day with the recruitment of new teaching staff and the transition of our currently serving research assistants to teaching staff.

There are 4 classrooms in our department. At the same time, there is a Faculty Student Computer Laboratory with an area of ​​80 m2 and 40 high-end computers that our department students can use. Each student has one computer per class. In addition, there is one projector in each of the department classrooms and the computer laboratory. There are a total of 784 books in our university library related to the Mathematics Department.

Education

The undergraduate program is 4 years (8 semesters). In order to graduate, students must take and pass courses worth at least 30 ECTS credits each semester (at least 240 ECTS credits in total). At least 14 of these courses (64 ECTS) are elective courses. Students who complete this process and achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 are eligible to receive a bachelor's degree. Our students can do a Double Major with the Electrical and Electronics Engineering program. They can also participate in exchange activities with universities in Turkey and abroad through exchange programs and cooperation protocols such as Erasmus, Farabi, Mevlana. Our department also has master's and doctoral programs and conducts theoretical and applied advanced academic research. Our students can work as scholars in projects such as BAP, TÜBİTAK, etc.

Our Activities

In our department, seminars are given by our faculty members, master's/doctoral students and invited faculty members from different universities during each academic term. During the term, invited faculty members from different universities come and give conferences in our department. In addition, workshops, mathematics exhibitions and social responsibility projects are also organized in our department.

Job Opportunities for Mathematicians

One of the most important fields of work for graduates is academics. Graduates who complete their master's and doctoral degrees can work as assistant professors, associate professors, professors and become faculty members at universities. There is also the opportunity to benefit from scholarships from institutions such as MEB, YÖK, TÜBİTAK and do master's or doctorate abroad. In addition, they can work as a mathematics teacher in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education after receiving training. They can work as financial consultants in TUBITAK, Aselsan, Ttnet, Telekom, Undersecretariat of Treasury and banks, and as analysts in most banks and private institutions. Since mathematics education provides the basic knowledge and skills required to work in the field of computers, they can work as system analysts, system operators, software specialists, etc. in the data processing centers of various public and private institutions. They can join the IT sector and do programming through a master's degree, additional courses or courses on computers. There are also job opportunities such as accountant positions in the Ministry of Finance, and analyst or programmer positions in ministries.
