Read Japan Project Book Grant Delivery Ceremony, Mini Concert (05/22/2024)

Within the scope of the “Read Japan Project” organized by the Department of Japanese Language and Literature of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of our University and implemented by The Nippon Foundation, a ceremony was held for the delivery of the books donated to our University and a music concert program titled Local Melodies of Okinawa, a tropical island in Japan.

The program held at the Erdoğan Akdağ Congress and Culture Center of our University was attended by our University Rector Prof. Dr. Evren Yaşar, Japan’s Ambassador for Sports and Education Iwasa Takaaki, our University Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kocakaya, academic staff and students.

Our University Rector Prof. Dr. Evren Yaşar and Japan’s Ambassador for Sports and Education Iwasa Takaaki expressed their satisfaction with the visit they paid to our university to donate books. In his speech, our rector stated that the visit and book donation paved the way for bilateral relations in socio-cultural terms.

Takaaki emphasized that their aim in the Read Japan Project is to ensure that the whole world gets to know Japan closely. Takaaki, who stated that they presented books to those studying Japanese at Yozgat Bozok University or those interested in Japanese culture, expressed his gratitude to our Rector Prof. Dr. Evren Yaşar for the support and sensitivity they showed in introducing Japanese culture.

A book donation was made to our university within the scope of the project carried out to encourage understanding of Japan worldwide through books and to provide more information about Japan. Later, a mini concert program was organized by Iwasa Takaaki, Japan's Ambassador for Sports and Education. Informing the participants about the history, culture and language of Okinawa, Iwasa sang Okinawan folk songs with his sanshin, an instrument that resembles a three-stringed lute that defines Okinawan music and is played with a plectrum attached to the index finger and covered with snake skin.

NOVEMBER 10 ATATURK COMMEMORATION PROGRAM (ATATURK'S IMPORTANCE IN TURKISH, RUSSIAN AND JAPANESE SOCIETIES) 10.11.2022
In the November 10 Atatürk Commemoration Program organized by the Department of Eastern Languages ​​and Literature and History of our university's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, was commemorated with a ceremony held on the 84th anniversary of his death. Our university's Faculty of Arts and Sciences History Department Assistant Professor Onur Çelebi, Russian Language and Literature Department Assistant Professor Esra Elmacıoğlu and Japanese Language and Literature Department Research Assistant Buket Durdu explained "Atatürk's Importance in Turkish, Russian and Japanese Societies" with their presentations.

LOCAL SONGS OF OKINAWA (09.05.2022)

At the cultural event given by the President of the Turkish-Japanese University of Science and Technology, Diplomat Iwasa Takaaki at the Erdoğan Akdağ Congress and Culture Center, Okinawa-specific melodies were sung.

Informing the participants about the history, culture and language of Okinawa, Iwasa sang Okinawa folk songs with his sanshin, an instrument that resembles a three-stringed lute that defines Okinawan music and is covered with snakeskin and played with a plectrum attached to the index finger.

Following the mini musical recital, our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ presented a gift to the President of the Turkish-Japanese University of Science and Technology, Diplomat Iwasa Takaaki, in memory of the day. Iwasa expressed his pleasure at being hosted by Yozgat Bozok University and thanked our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ.

RAKUGO SHOW

Great interest was shown in the Rakugo Show, one of the Japanese performing arts, which was held at Yozgat Bozok University Erdoğan Akdağ Congress and Culture Center on 21.03.2022 in cooperation with the Department of Eastern Languages ​​and Literatures of our university and the Japanese Culture Society. Futoshi Miyamoto, who works at the Japanese Embassy in Ankara, presented two Rakugo shows, one in Japanese and one in Turkish. The opening of the program, led by Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Esra Elmacıoğlu, head of the Eastern Languages ​​and Literatures department, was made with the presentation of Arş. Gör. Buket Durdu, accompanied by a slide on Japanese performing arts. Then, the Rakugo show, accompanied by Arş. Gör. Dr. Uğur Altın's translations, ended with the questions of the guests. At the end of the program, a certificate of appreciation was presented to the guest Futoshi Miyamoto by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Doç Dr. Hatice Baş.
