1) History

Our faculty was established in Yozgat by the Decision of the Council of Ministers dated 24.08.1994 and numbered 94/6138, published in the Official Gazette dated 3 November 1994 and numbered 22100. The Department of Biology started to accept students in the 2014-2015 academic year within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Yozgat Bozok University.

4) Specific Admission Requirements

The right to admission and registration is earned by the examination conducted by ÖSYM. Access to undergraduate programs is only based on the score from this examination. The students send their preference forms to the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) according to the scores they get in the exam result. OSYM takes all applicants, groups applicants according to points, places scores from highest to lowest, lists all existing programs according to preferred score, and places students in one of their preferred programs.

Students must successfully complete the required compulsory and elective courses required in the program in order to be able to obtain a bachelor's degree and in the overall grade average they must have a weight of at least 2.00 over 4.00 grade average.

Purpose of the Department of Biology; have gained basic skills in theoretical and applied fields, researching, interrogating, interpreting and developing independent projects, ethical values insoluble researchers and specialists. It is also one of the most innovative areas of the 21st century. Biology graduates can be found in the health, agriculture and industry sectors through biotechnology it is expected to be individuals who can produce solutions to major problems.

To train individuals who adequately and accurately understand the basic scientific concepts, theories and practices, professional ethics in the field of Biology, who can solve the problems they encounter in their field, and who have the equipment needed by the public and private sectors.

To be able to train individuals who can carry out scientific studies and projects by taking part in national/international research and continue their education at domestic/international universities.

To train individuals who can work as academic staff in national/international universities.

Following the current scientific and applied developments/educational activities in the field of Biology, and able to improve himself/herself throughout life; To raise qualified individuals.

9) Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Students who have completed the Biology program will be individuals with the capacity and knowledge to develop new products in the field of biotechnology, which will contribute to the country's economy and development. Areas such as medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, agriculture and food engineering, which make extensive use of molecular diagnostic and analysis methods, enable Biology graduates to have a broad employment profile. Graduates of the Department of Biology; v After completing graduate studies, as an academician at universities, v In research centers and institutes, v In clinical genetics and in vitro fertilization units in hospitals and special clinical laboratories, v In health, medicine, food, agriculture research-development and quality control units, v In private institutions importing and exporting biomedical field equipment, v In biology and genetic units of criminal laboratories, v In the fermentation, genetic engineering and molecular biology laboratories of pharmaceutical companies, v In business areas that may occur in newly developing sectors such as stem cells, v In research and development and quality control units in textile and cosmetics sector, v Environmental and natural life protection - public or private institutions and organizations related to control, molecular biologist / expert / researcher.

10) Access to Further Studies

Students who have successfully graduated from the undergraduate program can apply to the graduate and doctorate programs provided they have enough points from the ALES, YDS, YÖKDİL exams.

11) Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

In the Department of Biology, students are required to take exams during the semester and at the end of the semester in order to successfully pass the courses they have taken. If 40% of the midterm exam score and 60% of the final exam score are combined and the score obtained satisfies the relative evaluation criteria, the student's course is counted as successful.

12) Graduation Requirements

Students who are admitted to the Department of Biology must have successfully completed the courses listed in the eight semester curriculum to graduate from the department.

15) Facilities

There are four classrooms and two laboratories that Biology students can use for theoretical and practical courses. There are also four research laboratories with high-tech devices for use by graduate students.
