Important Instructions for English Language and Literature and English Language Teaching Students

1. Course registrations:  In the 2024-2025 Academic Year, our students who have enrolled in the English Language and Literature and English Language Teaching Departments of our University will make their course registrations (between 09 September-15 September 2024) by selecting the Compulsory English Preparatory (SFL-ZH) course through the student information system (OBS) and sending it to the advisor for approval.

*Our students will make their OBS logins with the password they set after entering the account transactions from the e-services menu at bozok.edu.tr and typing the necessary information.

2. Orientation Training: Orientation training will be organized to inform our Compulsory Preparatory Class students, answer their questions, and introduce them to our university and college.

3. Classes: Compulsory Preparatory Class classes will start on September 16, 2024. Course schedules will be published in the announcements section of the School of Foreign Languages web page. The Academic Calendar of the Compulsory Preparatory Classes is available in the student menu on our web page.

4. Proficiency Exam: We would like to kindly inform you that the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (Exemption Exam) will be held on 12-14 September 2024 for our esteemed students who have enrolled in the English Language and Literature and English Language Teaching Departments of our esteemed University.  Students enrolled in these departments are kindly requested to note that they do not need to apply separately for the exemption exam. 

      The Proficiency in Foreign Language (Exemption) Exam is comprised of two sessions.  We kindly request your presence at the first session, which will commence at 10:00 on Thursday, 12 September 2024. This session will comprise the Use of English, Reading, Listening and Writing sections. Students who achieve a score of 50 or above in the first session with a total score of 80 will be eligible to take the second session.

      The second session, which will be held on 13-14 September 2024, includes the Speaking section and has a total point value of 20. Students who achieve a score of 70 or above at the conclusion of the two sessions will be exempt from the compulsory English preparatory class and will progress to the first year of their respective department as of Monday, 16 September 2024.
The exemption exam will be conducted in the School of Foreign Languages classrooms on the last floor of the Faculty of Communication Building. Further details regarding the exam will be provided in due course. 

5. Exemption: Please be advised that the following students are exempt from the Central Exams: Students who have achieved the minimum scores as set out in Table 1 must submit an application to the student affairs office of their enrolled unit between 9 September and 15 September 2024. This application must be accompanied by the exam result certificate and a petition requesting exemption from the Compulsory Preparatory Class.

Students who have previously completed Compulsory English Preparatory Class Education at another university will be evaluated and granted final exemption status if they submit an application to the student affairs office of their current faculty between the specified dates. The application must include a document attesting to the successful completion of the preparatory class and an approved course curriculum, as well as a petition.
