Lect. Sadettin Güçlü, Director of the School of Foreign Languages, met with a group of students studying in the optional preparatory class shortly after their 2nd midterm exams. The meeting was designed to be an interactive session, allowing the students to share their insights and concerns on their educational journey at the school.
The director made it clear that the students had made an excellent decision by applying to and enrolling in the one-year Intense language program, describing it as the most effective way to learn a target language especially in Türkiye. He further indicated that preparatory classes offer the most amount of instruction hours with a 24-Hour class schedule per week.
He went on sharing inspiring stories of some former Optional Preparatory Class students who were easily employed thanks to their English proficiency and the certificate they were awarded. He then provided another example of an achievement by a student who is currently abroad completing his internship covered by Erasmus+ Exchange Programme.
During the meeting, the director encouraged students to focus on the positive aspects of ther education- particularly the quality of the lecturers, and the course materials. Lect. Güçlü concluded his remarks by empasizing that the students should consider themselves lucky to be in Optional Prep. Class as it will provide them with valuable input for their future careers.
The students felt free to talk about their concerns, and took turns sharing their views on the quality of the education they had received so far. They expressed both their satisfaction with the lectures and the evaluation methods, as well as their concerns.
At the end of the meeting the director promised to call them on again to discuss on key issuess including the grading system and the minimum grades required for each language certificate level.
