Aims and Objectives

The primary aim of the Department of Economics is to educate and train qualified human resources equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required by the public and private sectors at national and international levels and capable of responding to the requirements of the contemporary world. In line with this aim, the curriculum is designed to enable students to acquire fundamental knowledge and skills in theoretical and applied economics, analyze economic events and problems using scientific methods, develop analytical and critical thinking skills, and apply their knowledge to real-world economic problems.

The Department offers courses in the fields of Economic Theory and Economic History, Economic Policy, Economic Development, and International Economics. The curriculum consists of compulsory courses covering the fundamental subjects of these fields, as well as a wide range of elective courses that students can select in accordance with their interests and career goals.

In line with the objectives of the program, graduates are expected to possess the knowledge and competencies required to undertake diverse roles and responsibilities in the public and private sectors and in national and international markets. Graduates may pursue careers in various sectors and fields, including banking, insurance, foreign trade, finance, accounting, production, management, marketing, and tourism. They may also serve in public institutions in positions such as experts, inspectors, and auditors. In addition, graduates have the opportunity to pursue an academic career by continuing their education at the graduate level.
