History

The Department of Economics, under the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Yozgat Bozok University, was established pursuant to the Council of Ministers’ decision dated 1 March 2006 and numbered 5467, as announced in the Official Gazette dated 17 March 2006. The Department commenced its undergraduate education in the 2008–2009 academic year with 51 students.

Currently, the Department has a total of 234 undergraduate students, including 228 students in the regular education program and 6 students in the second education program. Its academic staff consists of 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 9 Assistant Professors, and 1 Research Assistant. The language of instruction is Turkish. Graduates of the undergraduate program are awarded a bachelor’s degree and are entitled to use the professional title of “Economist.”

In addition to undergraduate education, the Department launched its thesis-based master’s program in 2018 and its doctoral program in 2024. Through these programs, the Department continues to contribute to advanced education, academic development, and research in the field of economics.
