The Department of Geological Engineering was established in 1994 within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Erciyes University in Yozgat. The first undergraduate students were admitted in the 1995-1996 academic year, and the first graduates were produced in the 1999-2000 academic year. With the establishment of Bozok University in 2006, the department joined the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. In the 2009-2010 academic year, students were admitted to the evening and postgraduate programs.

The Department of Geological Engineering, consisting of four main branches – General Geology, Applied Geology, Mineral Deposits-Geochemistry, and Mineralogy-Petrography – has shown rapid development in terms of academic staff and laboratory infrastructure since 1994. The academic staff consists of 5 professors and 1 assistant professor, totaling 6 teaching staff. To date, 17 postgraduate students have graduated, and a total of 418 undergraduate students have graduated from the first and evening programs. Currently, 10 undergraduate and 23 graduate students are enrolled in the Department of Geological Engineering.
