History

The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture was established in 1993 by Decree Law No. 496. The faculty includes the departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geological Engineering, and Architecture. The Civil Engineering Department of Erciyes University Yozgat Faculty of Engineering and Architecture began its education in the Yozgat Campus in the 1994-1995 academic year and, with the establishment of Yozgat Bozok University in 2006, continues its education within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Yozgat Bozok University.

The total number of students in the department is around 350, with approximately 30 students admitted to the regular program each year. There is no evening program. Along with this practice, the dedication of the teaching staff and the influx of higher-quality students are contributing to the continuous improvement of education each year. Meanwhile, the planned English-supported teaching program will significantly address the foreign language deficiency.

In the first year of the department, fundamental courses such as physics, chemistry, and mathematics, which are taught in other engineering departments, are given, while in the upper years, fundamental courses focused on structural, geotechnical, hydraulic, transportation, and mechanical engineering are taught, along with laboratory work. The Civil Engineering Department aims to provide students with fundamental knowledge and skills related to the design of all types of buildings, highways, airports, railways, tunnels and ports, dams, ponds and irrigation canals and channels, bridges, and the analysis of the infrastructure of engineering structures.

The Civil Engineering Department has a Structural Laboratory equipped with modern tools and equipment, which are among the most important tools of contemporary education, and a developing Hydraulics, Geotechnical, and Transportation Laboratory. The facilities of the laboratories are being improved day by day.

Compared to other developing universities, the department does not have a problem meeting its own teaching staff needs. Meanwhile, services provided within the framework of the Revolving Fund Regulation constitute an important resource for increasing the practical experience of teaching staff and for updating the department's laboratories in line with developing technologies.
