Making the opening speech of the program held within the scope of 8 MARCH 2022 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY activities at our university, Sociology Department faculty member, Woman and Family Studies Application and Research Center Board Member, Assoc. Dr. Hulya CAKIR said in her speech: “Although there have been positive developments in the field of women's rights around the world in recent years, many problems for women are still not resolved. In gender and women studies, it is concluded that the biggest problem faced by women in society in Turkey is violence. Violence against women as a violation of human rights manifests itself in different ways from past to present. Violence prevents women from developing themselves socially and takes away their rights in areas such as education, health and participation in working life. The fact that the family is seen as confidential and that women do not want to reflect the events they experience in this area because they are ashamed or afraid, negatively affect the struggle with violence.

Cakir, In the continuation of her speech, gave information about the purpose of the center, its activities and the projects they will carry out with internal stakeholders regarding women and family.

As part of the events of 8 MARCH 2022 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY, Assoc. Dr. Esra Gedik gave a speech on "Violence Against Women and Women's Rights" to the registered women in the Women's Guest House affiliated to the Yozgat Governorship Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services.
