Programme Overview
The Department of Art History was established in 2009 within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Yozgat Bozok University. Its undergraduate programme admitted its first students in the 2018–2019 academic year.

Qualification and Level
Graduates are awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History, corresponding to Level 6 of the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework.

Admission and Recognition of Prior Learning
Admission is based on placement by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) using Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) results, in accordance with current national regulations and the annually published guide. Prior formal learning is recognised under the relevant University regulations.

Qualification and Graduation Requirements
The normal period of study is four years. To graduate, students must complete all required courses, earn at least 240 ECTS credits, including 60 ECTS credits from elective courses, and attain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Programme Profile and Educational Objectives
The programme examines works of art in relation to chronology, geography, civilisation, style, material, technique, and ornament. Its scope includes architecture, painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, furniture, and other decorative arts. Students learn to analyse visual and material culture critically, use historical sources systematically, draw on related disciplines, use current digital research tools, observe professional ethics, and contribute to documenting, interpreting, preserving, and promoting cultural heritage.

Career Opportunities
Graduates may pursue academic careers or work in museums, cultural-heritage institutions, archaeological projects, conservation and restoration organisations, galleries, cultural centres, publishing, collection management, curatorial practice, tourism, and relevant public institutions, subject to the qualifications required for each post.

Progression to Further Study
Graduates may apply to relevant master’s and doctoral programmes provided that they meet current national and programme-specific admission requirements.

Assessment and Evaluation
Assessment methods are specified in each course syllabus and governed by University regulations. Where a course uses one midterm and one final examination, the midterm contributes 40% and the final examination contributes 60% to the course grade.

Mode of Study and Learning Opportunities
The programme is offered full-time. Museum visits, architectural and archaeological fieldwork, seminars, conferences, and workshops connect scholarly knowledge with professional practice.
