INTRODUCTION

The department offers undergraduate and graduate-level education and research opportunities for those wishing to pursue careers in soil, plant nutrition, land management, and environmental issues. The department's research areas include soil formation, soil surveying and mapping, soil classification, soil physics, soil chemistry, soil biology and soil and water conservation, land use planning, land degradation, land and water management, composting, fertilizers and fertilization, soil fertility, organic farming, waste management, plant physiology, and plant nutrition.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

The main objectives of the program are: soil formation, the distribution and mapping of different soils in the world and in our country, the physical, chemical, and biological properties of agricultural soils, soil erosion, soil pollution, soil management, soil fertility, plant nutrition and fertilization, sustainable agriculture, soil-water-plant relationships, fertilizer-environment relationships, etc. The aim is to provide students with fundamental knowledge in these areas, to train skilled professionals who are experts in soil science and plant nutrition, equipped with up-to-date information relevant to the conditions of the age, possess analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, provide solutions to the basic problems of producers regarding soil and plant nutrition, are sensitive to the environment and nature, and follow current innovations and technologies.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students will possess theoretical and practical knowledge in soil science, plant nutrition, soil fertility, fertilizers and fertilization, and soil-water-environment relationships. They will have knowledge of soil and water resource management and sustainability. They will be able to scientifically evaluate new developments, techniques, and technologies related to their field.
