The Field Crops Department of the Faculty of Agriculture at Yozgat Bozok University was established in 2006. Students who enroll in the Faculty of Agriculture under the name of the Field Crops Department take basic agricultural engineering courses for two semesters and then take field crops department specialization courses for the remaining six semesters, graduating after four years of education. In addition to its undergraduate program, the Field Crops Department also offers graduate programs under the Graduate School of Education, including the Field Crops Department and the Agricultural Sciences Department.
Courses in our department are conducted in classrooms equipped with modern visual teaching equipment. The Field Crops Department, which has all kinds of physical infrastructure and teaching staff for students, researchers, and academics, has important research opportunities related to cereals, food crops, industrial crops, medicinal and aromatic plants, as well as laboratories and application units that produce reliable and effective results.
The aim of the Field Crops undergraduate program is to train engineers who are equipped with basic knowledge of field crops, can analyze problems in their field and provide scientific solutions, can adapt advanced technologies to their field, and have internalized ethical values.
In the first year of the program, the goal is to transfer basic sciences to agricultural sciences; in the second year, the goal is to internalize the basic concepts of agricultural engineering. In the last two years of the program, practical topics such as the cultivation and breeding of plant groups within field crops are covered. Particular emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary elective courses related to cultivation maintenance and plant protection.
