Admission and Registration Requirements
Students are admitted to the programs of the Vocational School of Yozgat Bozok University if they achieve a sufficient score in the YKS examination administered by the Council of Higher Education Assessment, Selection and Placement Center and meet the special requirements. Students may also be admitted to the programs through horizontal transfer. These transfers are regulated by a directive, and students may transfer between diploma programs of different higher education institutions or between diploma programs within the same higher education institution only within the framework of the number of places and transfer conditions announced in advance.
Rules Regarding the Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, informal, non-formal)
The process of recognizing prior learning in Turkish higher education institutions is still at an initial stage. Therefore, the recognition of prior learning has not yet been fully implemented in all programs of Yozgat Bozok University. However, an exemption examination is held at the beginning of each academic year for the compulsory Foreign Language course included in the curricula of the departments. Students who have completed the self-learning process for these courses or who believe that they have acquired the learning outcomes of these courses through different means are entitled to take these examinations. Students who pass the examination are exempted from the relevant course in the curriculum.
Qualification Requirements and Rules
In order to obtain an associate degree in the Agricultural Machinery Program of the Department of Machinery and Metal Technologies, students must successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses required in the program (equivalent to a total of 120 ECTS), complete a 20-working-day summer internship, and have a cumulative weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00.
Program Profile
The aim of the Agricultural Machinery Program is to train qualified agricultural mechanization technicians who, in accordance with the demands and developments of the sector, have acquired theoretical knowledge and skills that enable them to be skilled in manufacturing processes, perform the maintenance and repair of agricultural machinery and equipment, implement agricultural tools and machinery legislation, conduct quality and control procedures in agricultural tools and machinery laboratories, understand the mechanical and electrical principles of the agricultural tools and machinery they use, prepare and interpret engineering drawings, plan and manage operation, maintenance and repair activities and conduct experiments, write technical reports, measure and record data and maintain records, supervise and manage technical personnel, and facilitate the renewal and development of standard tools to ensure their suitability for regional conditions and specific products.
Employment Profiles of Graduates (with examples)
Graduates of the Agricultural Machinery field can work in the manufacturing and marketing sector of agricultural tools and machinery, the renewable energy sector, the agricultural production sector and agricultural product processing sector, their own businesses, production greenhouses, seedling and sapling production companies, agricultural cooperatives and producer associations, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, municipalities, private agricultural enterprises, agricultural pesticide, fertilizer and seed dealers, agricultural import and export companies, the Turkish Grain Board, chambers of agriculture, universities, and agricultural machinery enterprises.
Program graduates work as intermediate technical personnel, middle-level managers, or administrative technical staff in large, medium-sized, and small-scale enterprises that manufacture and market agricultural machinery and carry out agricultural production. In the enterprises where they work, graduates fulfill responsibilities such as facilitating communication between agricultural machinery manufacturers and farmers, ensuring that work is carried out according to plan, inspection, inventory control, etc. Their areas of employment include enterprises that operate and market agricultural machinery, enterprises engaged in agricultural production, and related public institutions.
Agricultural Machinery Technicians work in positions with titles and responsibilities equivalent to those of technicians at almost all levels of agricultural machinery factories in the main and supporting industries. In terms of their duties in the workplace, they are intermediate technical personnel positioned between senior managers and/or engineers and technicians, possessing more theoretical knowledge than technicians and greater practical skills than engineers. An employee with these characteristics can assume leadership and management roles in small or medium-sized enterprises. The technician is responsible to management. They supervise the work of skilled workers and technicians, assume responsibility, and work in cooperation with others. Agricultural machinery technicians are found in high numbers on production and assembly lines, where they play an active role in production activities, ensure communication and coordination between engineers, planners, and managers and workers, serve as team leaders in quality circles, and take responsibility as trainers in the on-the-job training of lower-level personnel during training activities.
Another important part of the agricultural machinery sector, as important as production, consists of after-sales service units, which can be referred to as service centers, sales outlets, and training centers. The responsibilities assumed by agricultural machinery technicians in these units have increased further as production systems have shifted from mass production to lean production and customer-oriented quality and sales principles have been implemented. In these units, they assume responsibilities and duties in many areas, from group leadership, service management, sales group leadership, spare parts, and service workshop management to personnel training. In summary;
Operator or foreman in agricultural machinery technical service operations,
Operator or foreman in maintenance and repair work,
Agricultural machinery equipment operator,
Operator or foreman in the agricultural machinery manufacturing industry,
Reading and preparing technical drawings,
Use of measurement and control instruments,
In the field of hydraulic-pneumatic systems,
Customer representative and sales personnel in tractor, agricultural machinery, and spare parts businesses.
