About the Program
The Private Security and Protection Program is one of the seven associate degree programs offered by our Vocational School. It was established under the Department of Property Protection and Security following the approval of the Executive Board of the Council of Higher Education on 13 February 2013. The program is designed to educate and train qualified private security personnel at the higher education level to meet the workforce needs of both the public and private security sectors in Türkiye.
Program Objectives
The program aims to educate qualified intermediate-level professionals who possess the fundamental competencies required in the field of private security. Graduates are expected to have comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, effective communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in defense and protection techniques, and competence in information and communication technologies. In addition to providing a solid theoretical foundation, the curriculum places strong emphasis on practical training and hands-on applications to prepare students for professional practice.
The increasing demand for higher education-qualified personnel in the security sector contributes to improving the quality of security services provided by both public and private organizations, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction. Consequently, graduates of the program enjoy expanding employment opportunities, making the program an attractive choice for prospective students.
Career Opportunities
Graduates are qualified to undertake responsibilities related to the planning, operation, development, and management of security services in both public and private sector organizations. Employment opportunities are available in a wide range of institutions, including industrial enterprises, private security companies, security operation centers, banking institutions, insurance companies, commercial organizations, research firms, transportation and logistics companies, as well as various public institutions and service-sector organizations.
In addition, graduates may apply for public sector positions through the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS) for security officer appointments, where an associate degree qualification is generally required.
Furthermore, in accordance with the provisions introduced by Decree Law No. 680, organizations employing fifteen or more private security officers or operating private security units are required to appoint at least one Security Supervisor. In addition to meeting the legal qualifications stipulated for private security personnel, candidates for this position must hold at least an associate degree. This regulation provides graduates of the program with a significant competitive advantage and broader career prospects, as only associate degree holders are eligible to serve as Security Supervisors.
