Private Security and Protection Program

The Private Security and Protection program commenced in the 2020-2021 academic year at Yozgat Bozok University, Şefaatli Vocational School, under the Department of Property Protection and Security. Four expert instructors are currently working in our department.

Graduates of the Private Security and Protection program who successfully complete all courses receive an Associate's Degree in Private Security and Protection and are granted titles such as "Private Security Officer," "Private Security Personnel," "Private Security Conscript," etc.

Program Objectives and Qualifications

The aim of the program is to meet the need for qualified personnel in the increasingly widespread private security sector in Turkey. In today's changing and developing conditions, the proliferation of service and security policies has brought the private security sector to the forefront. The objective of the Private Security and Protection Program is to train personnel who can keep pace with the rapid changes in the security sector, adapt to the technological developments in the security sector, know application techniques, are particularly familiar with security technology, are well-equipped with relevant laws and regulations, can solve problems, can be effective in the sector, and possess analytical thinking skills, both mentally and physically. The program aims to increase the quality of service by increasing the number of employees with higher education in the security sector.

Graduates of the program will possess the following qualifications:

Admission and Registration Requirements

Candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent are placed by ÖSYM in accordance with the relevant legislation of YÖK (Council of Higher Education).

Graduation Requirements

1. To graduate from the program, students must have completed 120 ECTS credits. A general weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 is required.

2. In our program, for a student to graduate, they must have completed at least one course load after the first year. Internships are required, but not exceeding 20 working days.

Employment Opportunities for Graduates of the Program

Graduates of the Private Security and Protection program have a very wide range of employment opportunities. In this respect, private security services are concentrated primarily in business centers, accommodation facilities, healthcare institutions, educational institutions, museums, ceremonial venues, housing complexes, airports and ports, seaports, subways, train stations and terminals, industrial and commercial enterprises, as well as dams, power plants, refineries, power transmission lines, radio link stations, audio and video transmission stations, fuel transportation, storage, and loading facilities, river, lake, and sea coasts, forest areas, and all kinds of sports competitions, stage performances, and meetings held in both indoor and outdoor venues.

Graduates can establish and operate their own private security companies, work for various private security companies, and work as trainers. They can also take on roles in the infrastructure or management of security services in public and private sector institutions and organizations. Our graduates can find employment in the aforementioned fields throughout Turkey. Graduates of this program can find employment in various fields. Furthermore, since the KPSS-B exam for civil servant recruitment requires an associate degree for "security officer positions," these institutions offer opportunities to graduates of this program. Graduates can work in official or private organizations in the region, or even run their own businesses.

Numerous companies operate privately and provide short-term training throughout Turkey. However, private security officers who have received quality training may, by law, become security supervisors and managers in their workplaces. This is clearly a task that can be accomplished by institutions providing high-level education, such as universities.
