A “Social Policy and Trade Unionism” discussion was held at our University to provide students with insights into social policy, working life, and trade union activities. During the event, Settar Aslan, President of the Öz Orman-İş Trade Union, met with students and faculty members from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration.
Moderated by Dr. Osman Murat Çetin, Communications Specialist at the Directorate of Communications and Visiting Faculty Member in our Department, the discussion featured Settar Aslan, who provided participants with information on the emergence of trade unions, their importance in working life, workers’ rights, collective bargaining agreements, and trade union activities in the agriculture and forestry sectors. Addressing the students, Aslan also offered career advice and discussed the importance of fostering a “Green Homeland” awareness and preparing young people for working life.
The event concluded with participants’ questions being answered and an exchange of views.
