Our Department began its educational activities as the Department of Physics in the 1996–1997 academic year and has graduated 362 students from its undergraduate program. In addition, the Master’s program began admitting students in 2007, followed by the PhD program in 2014. To date, 31 students have successfully completed their theses in the Master’s program and 3 students have successfully completed their doctoral dissertations.

Our department currently has 5 professors, 1 associate professor, and 3 assistant professors with a PhD. The Department comprises six divisions: Atomic and Molecular Physics, High Energy and Plasma Physics, General Physics, Solid State/Condensed Matter Physics, Mathematical Physics, and Nuclear Physics.

Our department has a total of 5 research laboratories, 2 undergraduate student laboratories, 1 computer laboratory, and 4 classrooms.

According to Web of Science data, since its establishment, the current academic staff members of our department have published 310 international scientific articles and have participated in 1 European Union project, 8 TÜBİTAK projects, 6 TÜBİTAK-EU COST projects, and 35 scientific research projects (BAP).
