YÖK Accessible University Awards

As part of the “Barrier-Free University Awards” initiative launched by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in 2018, the goal is to make life easier for students
with disabilities at universities through a more equitable approach across a total of three categories.
In line with this approach, Yozgat Bozok University established the Office of the Coordinator for Students with Disabilities under the Rector’s Office
and, by completing its organizational structure across all academic and administrative units, encouraged and paved the way for these units
to carry out work in this area.
As Akdağmadeni Vocational School, based on the results announced in 2021 following the work carried out in 2020,
it has earned the “Accessibility in Physical Spaces” (Orange Flag) and “Accessibility in Education” (Green Flag) awards. As a result of another intensive application process in 2021, the college also received the “Access in Socio-Cultural Activities” (Blue Flag) award
as part of the awards announced for 2022,
thereby securing all possible flag awards in this field.
“Access to Facilities” (Orange Flag) encompasses efforts to ensure that students with disabilities can access
all areas within the award-winning academic unit’s campus and buildings—including classrooms, laboratories, the library, restrooms, the dining hall, and so on.
In this regard, In this regard, all academic units holding the Orange Flag
ensure that students with disabilities have access to all these spaces.
“Access in Education” (Green Flag) covers all resources, materials, peer support, staff support, and other opportunities
that students with disabilities may need in classes based on their specific circumstances.
