HISTORY

Yozgat Bozok University was established by the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 01/03/2006 and numbered 5467, published in the Official Gazette on 17/03/2006. Although our university was established independently in 2006, its infrastructure dates back much further. The Yozgat Vocational School, established in 1982 in Yozgat Province under Erciyes University, and another Vocational School, established in 1989 under Gazi University, form the foundation of our university. These two vocational schools were merged in 1994 and affiliated with Erciyes University. The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and the Faculty of Agriculture were established in 1992 under Erciyes University, followed by the Faculty of Science and Letters, the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1994, and the School of Health Sciences in 1996. Akdağmadeni Vocational School began operating in 1997 under Cumhuriyet University. Until 2006, the faculties and vocational schools operating under Erciyes and Cumhuriyet Universities were affiliated with Bozok University, thus gaining an independent structure.

Our university is located on Atatürk Road in the central district of Yozgat province, on a 4070-decare area, comprising the Erdoğan Akdağ East Campus and the Bilal Şahin West Campus. In addition to the main campus, there are Rectorate Protocol Buildings, Dentistry buildings, and campuses in the Esentepe area of Yozgat city center. Outside the main campus, there are also other campuses. The university conducts its education, teaching, and research activities in an area of 7632 decares, including its campuses in the districts of Sorgun, Akdağmadeni, Yerköy, Boğazlıyan, Şefaatli, Çekerek, and Sarıkaya.

Having completed its establishment phase and accelerated its development, our university, which started its educational activities in the 2006-2007 academic year with 4 Faculties, 1 School, 2 Vocational Schools, and 2 Institutes, continues its activities in the 2021-2022 academic year with 14 Faculties, 4 Schools, 8 Vocational Schools, 2 Institutes, 1 Research and Application Hospital, 15 Application and Research Centers, 1 Technopark, 1 Technology Transfer Office, and 4 departments under the Rectorate.

Since its establishment in 2006, our university has also developed significantly in terms of human resources. It continues its activities with nearly 1000 academic staff and more than 1000 administrative and support service personnel. The number of students enrolled has increased by approximately 400% in fourteen years, exceeding 20,000.

In 2020, within the scope of the "Regional Development-Oriented Mission Differentiation and Specialization Project" conducted by the Council of Higher Education, our university was included among the "Specialized Universities" with its project titled "For Sustainable Biomaterials and Bioenergy: Industrial Hemp".
