The Department of City and Regional Planning, which is based on game theory, decision-making, and selection processes, and is the art of shaping the future, found its place in Turkey thru planners from abroad after the Republic (TUPOB, 2018). While it was part of architecture education in the 1930s, with the accelerated urbanization process in our country after the 1950s, City and Regional Planning departments were established, and with this, the planning discipline gained more importance. The first Department of City and Regional Planning in Turkey Middle East Technical University established Turkey's first Department of City and Regional Planning in 1961. at Middle East Technical University in 1961.

The Department of City and Regional Planning, which is affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Yozgat Bozok University, started admitting students in the 2003-2004 academic year as part of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Yozgat University, which is affiliated with Erciyes University. In 2006, it gained its independent structure and has been continuing its educational activities as Yozgat Bozok University. In 2015, the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture moved to its new building, and today, education and instruction continue in this building under modern conditions. Therefore, our department has over 20 years of educational experience and has been one of the important departments of our university and faculty, consistently admitting a full quota of students each year until the 2021-2022 academic year.

High school students who wish to study in the Department of City and Regional Planning should prepare themselves well in the fields of mathematics, geography, art, and social sciences (sociology, history, art history, humanities, and culture). Urban planning is a discipline that encompasses the preparation of research, plans, programs, and projects based on scientific methods within the framework of a national settlement and development plan, and the implementation of efforts undertaken for this purpose. The main goal of our department is to educate urban and regional planners who understand how to create new, environmentally friendly ideas, taking into account the methods and tools that shape and change spaces at various levels, while also considering the country's culture and situation. These planners should seek alternative solutions with a participatory approach that prioritizes societal and public benefit, be inclined toward interdisciplinary work, think critically, question, analyze, possess developed communication skills, have leadership qualities, and uphold professional ethics capable of taking responsibility for implementation at universal standards.

The aim of the Department of City and Regional Planning is to train students who can conduct scientific studies and research on topics such as "Regional Planning," "Urban Planning," "Urban Design," "Urban Conservation and Renewal," "Disaster," "Environmental Science and Environmental Issues," "Sustainable Development," "Urban Transformation," etc., and who can carry out successful work in the field of practice. The aim is to identify policies that will guide the creation of livable environments, lead their implementation and supervision, and cultivate individuals with a systematic thinking consciousness.
