ECTS Credit Account:

ECTS (ECTS) is a figure that numerically indicates a workload spent on each course by thinking a student as a full-time worker.The time spent by the student for all the activities he/she has done for the relevant course (total workload) is calculated. The instructor of each course reveals the requirements of his/her own course and determines the ECTS credits accordingly.

At our university, we consider the following criteria:

• Course duration (x14 per week) (excluding exam weeks)

• Out of class study time (x14 per week)

• Homework (throughout the semester)

• Presentations (throughout the semester)

• Projects (throughout the semester)

• Laboratory Studies (throughout the semester)

• Land or field work (throughout the semester)

• Time spent studying for midterm exams

• Time spent studying for the Final Exam

The total time spent during the period for the above activities is calculated. ECTS credit is calculated by dividing the number found by 30. (30 hours = 1 ECTS credit)

Sample Account:

For any lesson;

• 3 hours a week (theory + practice + lab) face to face (14 weeks x 3 hours = total 42 hours)

• If the students spend 2 hours for each assignment by doing 5 homework during the semester for this course (5 homework x 2 hours = 10 hours in total),

•If he / she repeats lessons 1 hour after the lesson every week (14 weeks x 1 hour = 14 hours in total)

• If he / she prepares 5 hours to make 1 presentation at the end of the semester (1 presentation x 5 hours = total 5 hours)

• If he / she works 5 hours for 1 midterm exam (1 exam x 5 hours = total 5 hours)

• If he / she works 10 hours for the final exam (Final) (1 exam x 10 hours = total 10 hours)

As a result, the student spent 42 + 10 + 14 + 5 + 5 + 10 = 86 hours for this course.

According to ECTS Credit = total workload / 30 account of this course; ECTS Credit = 86/30 = 3 ECTS are obtained.

Based on the above account, it is stated that the ECTS credit should generally be equal to or higher than the course hour.
