The Art History Department, located within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Yozgat Bozok University, was established in 2009. The Undergraduate Program was opened in the 2018-2019 Academic Year.

The Art History Department is accepted through the Higher Education Transition Exam (YGS) conducted by ÖSYM. There is a quota of 30 students for each year.

Qualification Conditions and Rules
Normal education is 4 years. In order to obtain a bachelor's degree from the Art History Department, students must take and complete all the required courses and their general grade point average must be at least 2.00 out of 4.00. It is necessary to complete a total of 240 ECTS, consisting of 60 ECTS elective courses.
Program Profile
In the discipline of Art History, art objects are examined chronologically according to geographies, civilizations, style features, materials and techniques, and decorative elements. Painting, sculpture, architecture, ceramics, furniture, textiles and other decorative objects are within the scope of art history. Art history develops the skills to look at art objects closely, define them and systematically use historical sources. It interprets the richness of the visual and historical culture surrounding people. It provides tools and vocabulary to create a historically based understanding of artistic production in various social and cultural areas.
Program Educational Objectives
1 To train individuals who have theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of art history and who can be successful in academic and professional studies: Graduates will have in-depth knowledge of Western Art, Turkish Islamic Arts and contemporary art movements (FEDEK I, II, III, VI).
2 To provide the knowledge and skills to critically examine works of art produced in a cultural and social context: Graduates will be equipped to analyze works of art according to various periods and geographies of art history and to make critical comments (FEDEK I, III, VI).
3 To train individuals who can evaluate art history with an interdisciplinary approach and benefit from different fields: Graduates will be able to make comprehensive analyses by making use of auxiliary disciplines such as archaeology, sociology, history, and anthropology (FEDEK IV, V, VII).
4 To train individuals who can work individually or in teams in research and projects in the field of art history and who can use current technological tools: Graduates will gain skills such as collecting, analyzing, and presenting data using digital tools and will embrace the importance of lifelong learning (FEDEK V, VIII, IX).
5. To raise individuals who are conscious, have professional ethics and responsibility in the protection and promotion of works of art: Graduates will have the awareness of protecting, promoting and transferring cultural assets to future generations (FEDEK X, XI)
Employment Profiles of Graduates (with examples)
Graduates of the Department of Art History who graduate at the end of their four-year undergraduate education can work in different fields with the title of "Art Historian". A significant number of students who want to deepen their knowledge in the field of art history prefer to pursue an academic career. In this context, students can do their Master's and Doctorate studies at the Social Sciences Institutes of universities if they meet the necessary application conditions. When they meet the relevant conditions, they can also work as research assistants at universities. They can also work as research assistants at any university within the scope of the YÖK Faculty Member Training Program. They can continue their Master's and Doctorate programs at another university of their choice. They can also have the opportunity to receive postgraduate education abroad with MEB and YÖK scholarships. Graduates of Art History can work in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Foundations, museums, restoration and conservation centers, archaeological excavations and public institutions related to the protection of historical artifacts. They can also work as experts or consultants in private sector museums, art galleries, cultural centers and art foundations. They can work in restoration companies by specializing in the protection and restoration of works of art. Graduates can also work in art history projects in the field of media and publishing, art magazines and book publishing houses. They can also work as guides in the tourism sector and provide consultancy in cultural heritage and tourism projects. They can work as curators in private collections, museums and exhibitions by specializing in areas such as collection management and curatorship of works of art. They can also work in various sectors as "Occupational Safety Specialist" in the field of occupational safety by obtaining the relevant certificates.
Transition to Advanced Degree Programs
Candidates who successfully complete their undergraduate education can transfer to postgraduate programs (thesis master's and doctorate) by getting a passing score from ALES and foreign language exams.
Exams, Measurement and Evaluation
Students are subject to a midterm exam and a final exam for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam to the success grade is 40% and the contribution of the midterm exam is 60%.

Department Opportunities
The Art History Department provides up-to-date and comprehensive education in line with the developing art history research methods and approaches in the world and Turkey. In this context, students are provided with an education supported by practical and field studies in addition to theoretical knowledge. Museum visits, historical structures and field studies conducted in archaeological sites in order to examine and analyze works of art on site are an important part of the curriculum. In addition, the Art History Department provides students with the opportunity to interact with professionals in the art world through various seminars, conferences and workshops, and thus students have the opportunity to work with academicians and curators who are experts in their fields.
