General Overview
The Spanish Language and Literature Programme, part of the Department of Western Languages and Literatures in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, is currently in the establishment phase, and student admissions are planned for future terms. Spanish, spoken by nearly 500 million people worldwide, is the official language of 21 countries. The inclusion of this program in the Department of Western Languages and Literatures aims to serve as a bridge between these countries and Turkey through linguistic, cultural, and interdisciplinary connections, while also fostering scientific research in these areas.
Graduates of this programme will have opportunities to work in fields such as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Education (in public and private schools), universities affiliated with the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), and official institutions like the Ministry of National Defense. Additional career paths include teaching in private language courses, roles in the tourism industry, translation offices, embassies, and commercial organizations.
