The Department of Architecture and Urban Planning began accepting students and providing education in 2018. The department also includes a Land Registry and Cadastre program.

 Program Objective

The aim of the Land Registry and Cadastre program is to train qualified technicians who have acquired the necessary professional competencies in line with the needs of the sector and scientific and technological developments, particularly in the professions related to the basic rules regarding the maintenance of land registers and the creation of land registers, which fall under the field of Mapping-Land Registry-Cadastre.

Program Description

Land registry and cadastral information forms the basis for creating information systems for real estate and its management, considering the needs of the country and society.

Admission and Registration Requirements

In Turkey, admission to universities requires passing the exam administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Students, based on their exam scores, organize their program preferences and submit their preference forms to the Student Selection and Placement Center. ÖSYM receives all applications, groups them according to score type, ranks the scores from highest to lowest, lists all available programs according to the preferred score type, and places students in one of their chosen programs. 

Graduation Requirements

Students who successfully complete all courses in the program (totaling 120 ECTS credits) and achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 will be awarded an associate degree in Land Registry and Cadastre. 

Principles of Measurement and Evaluation

To be eligible to register and take final exams on the predetermined dates in the academic calendar, each student must attend at least 70% of lectures and at least 80% of practical sessions. Students are required to take at least one midterm exam and a final exam for each course. Midterm exams contribute 40% to the final grade, while the final exam contributes 60%. All exams are graded out of 100 points. Students who receive one of the letter grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), and (CC) in a course are considered to have passed that course. (DC) and (DD) grades are conditional passing grades. To pass a course with a DC or DD grade, the student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 for the semester in which the course was taken. 

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of the Land Registry and Cadastre program can find employment in land registry offices located in all provinces and districts of Türkiye, in other public institutions and organizations, and in the private sector. They can work in various public institutions such as the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, and other ministries; the Planning, Engineering, and Infrastructure Directorates of Municipalities; the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre; the General Directorate of Electrical Works Survey Administration; the General Directorate of National Real Estate; the Provincial Bank; the State Hydraulic Works; the Turkish Highways and State Railways; as well as in private contracting firms and companies serving the mapping and construction sectors, and in real estate valuation companies.

Transition to Higher Degree Programs

Graduates of the Land Registry and Cadastre program can transfer to Surveying Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Public Administration, and Land Registry and Cadastre departments through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).
