As part of the "Barrier-Free University Awards"—an initiative led by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) to foster a culture of accessibility in higher education institutions and support the full, effective participation of individuals with disabilities in higher education processes—our Faculty of Science and Letters has received the "Green Flag." This award serves as the physical symbol of the success achieved by the Faculty, which played a pivotal role in the University's overall accomplishment.

Following the presentation of the "Accessibility in Education" Achievement Certificate to our Dean, Prof. Dr. Hidayet Çetin, by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Evren Yaşar, at a ceremony previously held at the University, the Green Flag—the tangible emblem of the award—has now been delivered to our Faculty.

The Green Flag was presented to our Dean, Prof. Dr. Hidayet Çetin, by the University’s Disabled Student Unit Coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ferhat Karakaya, and Assistant Coordinators Prof. Dr. Hatice Baş and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Batmaz, during a ceremony held at the Faculty.

Our Goal: Making Accessibility Standards Permanent and Sustainable

Our Dean, Prof. Dr. Hidayet Çetin, stated that—in accordance with YÖK’s policy of renewing flag awards every three years—preparations for the 2026 renewal applications for the Green, Orange, and Blue Flags previously earned by the Faculty are being carried out with meticulous care and determination. He emphasized that the Faculty’s efforts, aligned with the "barrier-free university" vision, would continue with the same resolve and sensitivity until full accessibility standards are achieved across all categories. As the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, we adopt as a fundamental principle ensuring that all our students have equal, independent, and barrier-free access to educational processes, social life, and campus facilities. Accordingly, we remain firmly committed to implementing practices that enhance accessibility, fostering an inclusive approach to education, and further advancing our pioneering position in this field.
