Food Technology Program

The rapidly increasing world population brings along problems of adequate, healthy, and balanced nutrition. Producing sufficient food is important, but processing, evaluating, and transporting the produced food based on appropriate technology and scientific principles is equally essential. To ensure the production of suitable food for consumers, qualified personnel are needed. At this point, the demand for food technicians is also increasing.

The Food Technology Program provides education to train graduates who, from the production of agricultural and livestock-based raw materials to their consumption by the end user, use modern processing technologies, carry out sensory, physical, chemical, and microbiological food control services to ensure safe food production, and work as intermediate staff between food engineers and workers in line with the “from farm to fork” approach.

Our Food Technology Program students, in light of these realities, are trained to be responsible, to follow scientific principles and new technologies, to fulfill professional requirements, and to take leadership and managerial roles in small, medium, and large-scale food production enterprises. They are educated to be innovative researchers and qualified intermediate staff with more practical skills than engineers.

Program Objectives

The aim of the Food Technology Program is to provide students with theoretical knowledge and skills to respond to sectoral demands and developments, to be competent in food science, skilled in production processes, able to work on production lines in accordance with technological principles, apply food regulations and legislation, and perform quality control in food laboratories.

Facilities Offered

To improve students’ education and enable them to carry out vocational practice courses, our Vocational School has a Computer Laboratory and a Food Laboratory. In addition, there are social facilities such as a cafeteria, dining hall, conference hall, library, and internet access.
