In the opening speech of the panel organized within the scope of the November 25 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Director of the Application and Research Center of Women's Studies (KASAUM) Assoc. Dr. Canan Koç stated that violence is one of the most important problems of our day, and is not only a problem of women, but violence against women is a major problem that concerns the whole society and causes serious human rights violations.
Our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Güney stated that they organized this panel in order to raise awareness at our university on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Güney pointed out that women are the most precious creatures that give birth to humanity and nurture it with compassion, and expressed that the slightest bit of violence against women will create deep wounds at the most sensitive part of society.
Stating that violence against women has psychological, sociological and biological implications, Prof. Dr. Yücel added that the internalization of love, respect, loyalty and sincerity, which are the requirements of being a family, is an important element in the solution of violence against women.
Stating that societies that do not value women are unhealthy, primitive and dark societies, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Güney said: “Our civilization has actually given women the highest value and described them as a trust of God.
