YÖGEM "HALF YEAR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR SERIES PROGRAM" STARTS
"Half Year Professional Development Seminar Series Programs", organized by our university's Application and Research Center of the Development of Learning and Teaching have started. Presentations will be made on 10 different topics within the seminar program, which will be broadcast live on YOBUTV and YOBU UZEM YouTube accounts between February 1-5, 2021.
Expert academic members of METU, Anadolu University and our University will share their knowledge and experiences on " Effective Teaching, a Case of a University", "Teaching Principles in Distance Education", "Psychological Resilience and Wellbeing in Pandemic Education", "Rapid Content Production Tools", "Social Justice and Educational Organizations", "Effective Teaching Practices in Crowded Classrooms" "Interaction in Teaching", "Basic Concepts and Teaching of Mathematics", "Effective Teaching Methods in Small Groups", and "Critical Thinking and Applications in Higher Education".
Making the opening speech of the "Half Year Professional Development Seminar Series Programs", Director of our University Application and Research Center of the Development of Learning and Teaching (YÖGEM) Asst. Prof. Dr. Hatice Çilsalar Sağnak stated that they are happy to add a new seminar series to the series they have organized as a center. Asst. Prof. Dr. Sağnak said “We aim to support the increase of teaching efficiency by making use of different examples in the learning and teaching environment with“ Half Year Professional Development Seminar Series Programs”.
Pointing out that our university has carried out important studies for its own internal dynamics in terms of developing learning and teaching as in every field, our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ said: "For this purpose, YÖGEM has organized Half Year Professional Development Seminars as a continuation of the professional development seminars it has been conducting for our academic members”.
Stating that the mission of YÖGEM is to research and report the learning and teaching processes in the university environment within the framework of scientific values and to improve the learning and teaching environments in the light of the data obtained, our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ said, “In line with this mission, our center started to work with education and communication trainings in order to support the educational development of our instructors through the training of trainers. In this context, in order to support the learning and teaching activities carried out within our university, data were collected and assessed regularly every year with questionnaires regarding the educational expectations of all students and lecturers. In order to support the professional development of lecturers, seminars with different contents were held on different subjects, aimed at the interests of lecturers. I believe that these efforts will continue in the upcoming processes, and I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the organization of the seminar, wishing the seminar series to be successful and efficient ”.
In the seminar, our University Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Tayip Duman made the first speech of the seminar by giving information about " Effective Teaching, a Case of a University ". Drawing attention to the importance of a student-centered approach that makes the student active in the classroom instead of a teacher-centered approach, Prof. Dr. Duman emphasized that an effective teaching will take place when the nature of learning , the characteristics of the students, the goals, methods and techniques of the student, and the student's development levels, all performance during the year are taken into account.4.2.2021 11:29 || 51 once read.
