100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE RECOGNITION OF TURKISH NATIONAL ANTHEM AND MEHMET AKİF ERSOY COMMEMORATION DAY PROGRAM ORGANIZED
A series of programs were organized at our university on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Recognition of the Turkish National Anthem and the Commemoration Day of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, which tells about the struggle for existence of the Turkish nation.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Güngör Yılmaz, Prof. Dr. Yücel Güney, faculty deans, department directors, academic and administrative staff and our students participated in the program held at Erdoğan Akdağ Congress and Culture Center.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ made the opening speech of the commemoration program starting with a moment of silence and singing of the National Anthem. Stating that there are important turning points in the lives of nations, our Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karadağ said: “The last turning point in the history of our nation, which passed through great thresholds and survived great troubles, is undoubtedly the struggle for life and death in the War of Independence. The war was not only fought on the front, but also in the parliament, on the chairs of the mosque, and in the newspapers. Every responsible citizen shouted as much as he could, fulfilling his part in the national struggle. In all this turmoil, there was a person whose voice was loud, and whose words were effective, who traveled all over Anatolia and invited everyone to worry about our common troubles, to heal our wounds and to awaken. This person was Mehmet Akif Ersoy. Just as our flag, painted with the blood of our martyrs, and an indispensable national symbol for us, the national anthem has an unchangeable and indispensable importance for us as our flag of speech and voice.”
Our Rector said: “On the 100th anniversary of the recognition of our National Anthem, I would like to commemorate our national poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who wrote our anthem, which is the symbol of the resurrection and independence of a nation, our martyrs and veterans with mercy and gratitude.”
Another event organized on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Recognition of the National Anthem and the Commemoration Day of Mehmet Akif Ersoy was an online conference given by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Karabulut from Adıyaman University Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Turkish Language Literature Department, on the life, personality, understanding of art and the Turkish National Anthem of the National Poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy.
Another program organized at our university was the online panel in which Poet-Writer Mustafa Özçelik participated as a speaker. Poet-Writer Mustafa Özçelik answered questions such as under what conditions the National Anthem was written, the importance of Tacettin Dervish Lodge for Akif, and how we should explain Akif's world of ideas to our generation.23.3.2021 09:47 || 43 once read.
